Books Ranking – Privacy Policy

Books Ranking ("the app") lets you keep a personal ranking of the books you read, with scores, tiers, written reviews and voice notes. This policy explains what data the app handles and why. The app is developed by an individual developer (the "developer", "we").

Data we store

• Account data: your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Facebook, that account's basic profile (name, email, profile picture URL). Used only to sign you in.
• Your library: the books you add (title, author, cover link, genres, saga), your scores, tiers, rankings and written reviews.
• Voice notes: audio you record in reviews.

This data is stored in Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, hosted by Google in the European Union, region europe-southwest1). Each user's data can only be read and written by that signed-in user.

Third-party services

• Book search: when you search for a book, your search text is sent to Open Library and Wikidata to find titles, covers, genres and sagas. No account information is sent.
• Voice note transcription: when you record a voice note, the audio is sent to Google's Gemini API to turn it into text, which is added to your review.
• Google Sign-In, Facebook Login (Meta) and Firebase (Google) to sign you in and store your data. Facebook only receives the fact that you are signing in to this app; we do not read your Facebook posts, friends or other data.

We do not show ads, we do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone other than the services above, which process it only to provide these features.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and all its data at any time from the app: open the ⋯ menu and choose Delete account. This permanently erases your account, books, reviews, voice notes and settings.

If you can no longer access the app, email us at the address below from the email of your account and we will delete it within 30 days.

Data on your device

Book covers are cached on your device to load faster, and your theme and language choices are stored on the device only. None of this leaves your phone.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
